Abstract

The development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology supports the implementation of automated systems in Smart Laundry services. The existing Smart Laundry system used an extension board, resulting in a less structured installation and more difficult maintenance. This study aimed to design and implement an ESP32-based washing machine wiring system integrated with a Smart Laundry application at the Minori Dormitory Building. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method through needs analysis, system design, PCB fabrication and testing, implementation, and system testing. The system consisted of an ESP32, relays, an LDR sensor, an infrared sensor, a solenoid lock, and Firebase Realtime Database. The system was implemented on 10 washing machines, with each testing parameter conducted 30 times. The results showed a 100% success rate in voltage stability, solenoid lock response, LDR and infrared sensor readings, and WiFi connectivity. The solenoid lock response time ranged from 0.31 to 1.70 seconds, while system implementation achieved an 81% success rate. The custom PCB was successfully designed and tested, although the final implementation still used a breadboard and extension board due to time limitations. Overall, the system successfully supported Smart Laundry operations.
