Abstract

The prototype of a driver vision testing device based on the Three Rod Test method is used to measure depth perception, which is an important aspect of driving safety. The performance of the device is strongly influenced by a mechanical system with good accuracy, stability, and reliability. Therefore, this study aims to describe the fabrication and assembly processes of the mechanical system for a driver vision testing device prototype based on the Three Rod Test method. The main material used for fabrication was ASTM A36 steel plate with a thickness of 1.2 mm. The fabrication and assembly processes included laser cutting, bending, joining, drilling, and coating. Each stage was carried out according to the predetermined design to produce components with appropriate dimensions and shapes and to ensure that the mechanical system functioned properly. The results showed that all mechanical system components were successfully fabricated and assembled into an integrated device according to the design. Functional testing demonstrated that the test rod movement mechanism operated stably and met the requirements of the Three Rod Test method. Therefore, the fabrication and assembly processes successfully produced a mechanical system that met the functional requirements of the driver vision testing device prototype based on the Three Rod Test method and was capable of supporting the depth perception testing process.
